Open Group

Overview

Оpen Group was founded in August 2012 in Lviv by six artists: Eugene Samborsky, Yuriy Biley, Anton Varga, Oleg Perkovsky, Pavlo Kovach, Stanislav Turina. The permanent members of the group are (since 2019):

Yuriy Biley (based in Wroclaw / Berlin), Pavlo Kovach (based in Lviv), Anton Varga (based in New York).

The basic structure of Open Group also involve people for a period of time until a project, in which they are taking part, is running.

 

Group’s work is based on research of the interaction and communication between people, artists, situation and space. Also artistic practice is based on the study of the concept of «collective work».

 

Awards:

Open Group won the Special Distinction of the PinchukArtCentre Prize in 2013, and the Main Prize in 2015.
