Paula Malinowska

Paula Malinowska (b. 1998, Bratislava, Slovakia) is a photographer and digital artist based in Bratislava. Her practice moves between photography, 3D scanning, CGI, and animation, using photogrammetry to convert physical objects and plant ecosystems into 3D space. She's drawn to the errors and glitches that emerge in that digital translation process, treating them as generative material rather than mistakes to correct.

Her work is grounded in research across biology, climatology, and emerging technology, building speculative narratives that sit between science and myth. She completed her BA in Photography and New Media and her MFA in Intermedia at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava.

Malinowska is a 2024 laureate of the Oskar Čepan Award, Slovakia's leading prize for contemporary art, and has held residencies at Residency Unlimited in New York (2024), MuseumsQuartier in Vienna (2023), and PLATO in Ostrava (2025). Her work has been shown at the Bratislava City Gallery, Ján Koniarek Gallery in Trnava, Trafó Gallery in Budapest, and Glassbox in Paris, among other venues.
