Katya Kopeikina Ukrainian, b. 1996

Overview

Katya Kopieikina is a Ukrainian artist working across painting, tattooing, sculpture, and performance. Her practice examines human relationships through the body, exploring how intimacy, desire, trauma, and emotional experience shape both our sense of self and our connections with others.

The body plays a central role in Kopieikina’s work, appearing as a mutable space that carries traces of personal experience and challenges established ideas of normality. Her paintings often bring together sensuality and unease, addressing sexuality, fear, vulnerability, and the darker dimensions of intimacy. Drawing on personal relationships and experiences, she constructs imagery that shifts between the familiar and the unsettling, revealing tensions between desire and social conventions.

Originally developing her visual language through tattooing, Kopieikina has expanded her practice in recent years to focus on painting, sculpture, and performance. Her work has been presented through artist residencies and exhibitions in Ukraine and internationally.
