Mariya Sulymenko Receives the Barbara Nessim Acquisition Prize at EXPO CHICAGO

We are pleased to announce that Mariya Sulymenko has been awarded the Barbara Nessim Acquisition Prize at EXPO CHICAGO, resulting in the acquisition of her work by the permanent collection of DePaul Art Museum in Chicago.

The Barbara Nessim Acquisition Prize is fully funded by artist Barbara Nessim, long recognised for her commitment to supporting women in the arts. The recipient artwork was selected by a committee composed of Barbara Nessim herself, Mary Dinaburg, and DePaul Art Museum Curator Ionit Behar and Director Laura-Caroline de Lara.

As part of the acquisition, two of her watercolors were selected by a committee consisting of Barbara Nessim, Mary Dinaburg, DePaul Art Museum Director Laura-Caroline de Lara, and DePaul Art Museum Curator Ionit Behar. The selected artworks were donated to the DePaul Art Museum and are on view in the exhibition Barbara Nessim: My Compass Is the Line at DePaul Art Museum, running from March 5 through June 21, 2026.
