Stefan Bruggemann is a Mexico City-based artist whose practice centers on text, neon, and appropriation, engaging the relationship between language, meaning, and institutional authority. Deploying tautology, negation, and irony with precision, his work exposes the conditions under which statements acquire or lose power, operating at the overlap between conceptual art and pop culture. His work has been exhibited at the Centre Pompidou, the Tate Modern, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, Museo Jumex in Mexico City, and Art Basel, and is held in major international collections.
