Lorenzo De Los Angeles

Lorenzo De Los Angeles (b. Manila, Philippines) is a New York-based artist working primarily in colored pencil. He earned his BFA in Fine Arts and Art History from Parsons School of Design in 1995, after studying at Temple University's Tyler School of Art from 1990 to 1991.

De Los Angeles is known for intricately rendered drawings that draw on botanical illustration, medical imagery, and religious iconography, often depicting subversive or macabre subject matter through soothing, muted palettes. His work moves between beauty and violence, treating its subjects as objects of ritual and devotion.

He has held solo exhibitions at Derek Eller Gallery in New York (2009, 2007) and Ingalls & Associates in Miami (2007), among others, and has participated in group exhibitions across the United States, Europe, and Japan, including venues such as James Cohan Gallery Shanghai, Andrew Kreps Gallery, Feature Inc., and the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. His work has been written about in Modern Painters, Mute, Art Papers, and the New York Times.
