Brilant Milazimi b. 1994
Brilant Milazimi (b. 1994, Gjilan, Kosovo) grew up in the long shadow of the Kosovo War, absorbing stories of violence, displacement, and survival. His dreamlike, yet visceral paintings process the psychological residue of this history, creating landscapes of repair where bodies—fractured yet resilient—attempt to piece themselves back together.
In Psycho Landscapes, Milazimi’s figures inhabit uncanny spaces charged with possibility. These works, created in an abandoned house in the Bronx slated for demolition, speak to the impermanence of architecture as both a vessel of memory and a form of erasure.
Storefront Viewing Room is a fundraising initiative by Storefront for Art and Architecture designed to spotlight artists whose work features histories from a broad range of environments. Utilizing gallery viewing rooms, this series fosters mutual support between artists and Storefront through the auction sale of artworks, with all proceeds solely benefiting these two parties.
