Biography

Anatoly Kryvolap's paintings balance on the border of abstraction and figurative art, they are pure and laconic. It took the artist more than 20 years to find his unique style. He was doing research, including in the laboratory, kept diaries, experimented to solve the mystery of color, and as a result came to his signature style.

Anatoly Kryvolap was born in 1946 in Yahotyn, Ukraine. In 1976 he graduated from the Kyiv State Art Institute, Painting Department. From 1992 to 1995 he was an active member of the "Painting sanctuary" - an influential group of artists in the modern history of Ukrainian art. In 2012, Anatoly Kryvolap won in the category of "Art" and was awarded the Shevchenko National Prize. He is a permanent member of such auctions as PhillipsdePury&Co in New York, PhillipsdePury&Co in London, Phillips, Christie's, Sotheby's.

The artist chose a secluded life for himself and in the 2000s moved from Kyiv to the village of Zasupoyivka near Yahotyn, where he lives and works nowadays.
